More than 80 per cent of Internet users enjoy online shopping to make convenient purchases. But the joys of retail therapy cause many online users to forget to take precautions. Women pay attention less frequently to security aspects like SSL encryption (43%; men: 64%) or evaluations of the online shop, e. g., with a trusted shop symbol (31%; men: 40%). Nevertheless nearly half (47%) of women consider it is important when buying online that payment by invoice or C.O.D. is possible.
If people have a bad experience and been swindled when purchasing online, this does not necessarily stop them from online shopping in future, but it does make them more careful: 86% of this group insist on SSL encryption and a much larger number of them also insist on secure methods of payment.
